A comforting, flavorful Indian dal recipe made restaurant-style at home using the authentic and aromatic Aadinath Dal Tadka Masala. Perfect for everyday meals with rice or roti!
🧄 Ingredients:
- 1 cup Toor Dal (Arhar Dal)
- 2 ½ cups Water
- 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
- 1 medium Tomato (finely chopped)
- 2–3 Garlic cloves (crushed)
- 1 Green Chili (slit)
- 1 tsp Ginger (grated)
- 1 tsp Aadiinath Mustard Seeds
- 1 tsp Aadinath Cumin Seeds
- 1–2 Aadinath Dried Red Chilies
- 1 pinch Aadinath Asafoetida (Hing)
- 2 tbsp Ghee or Oil
- 1 ½ tsp Aadinath Dal Tadka Masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh Coriander Leaves (for garnish)
- Lemon wedges (optional)
👩🍳 Instructions:
- Cook the Dal
Rinse the toor dal and pressure cook it with water, a pinch of turmeric, and salt for 3–4 whistles until soft. Lightly mash and set aside. - Prepare the Tadka (Tempering)
Heat ghee in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and dried red chilies. Let them crackle. - Sauté Onions & Tomatoes
Add garlic, ginger, and green chili. Cook until golden. Add chopped onions and sauté until soft. Add tomatoes and cook until they break down completely. - Add the Masala
Add Aadinath Dal Tadka Masala and mix well. Cook for a minute until the spices release their aroma. - Combine with Dal
Add the mashed dal into the pan. Mix everything well and simmer for 5–6 minutes. Adjust consistency with water if needed. - Final Touch
Turn off the heat. Garnish with fresh coriander and a squeeze of lemon juice.
